The Lagos State men and women’s teams at the ongoing Sam Ocheho Invitational Handball Championship began their campaigns on a bright note on Sunday.
The event, which is in its second edition, has eight teams in the men’s category and five teams in the women’s category.
The Lagos men’s team, Eko United, beat De-Defenders 25-23 on match day one and went on to defeat Idah Pillars 22-17 in their second match.
The women’s team, Eko Queens, beat Police Machine 39-16 and also defeated Delta Force 38-16 to set themselves on the way to the elimination rounds.
Head coach of the teams, Anthony Idolor, said their aim was to win the competition.
