Nigeria’s First Lady and President African First Ladies Peace Mission, Dame (Dr) Patience Faka Jonathan, felicitates with Nigerians across the nation at Christmas, especially Nigerian women as they celebrate with other Christians all over the world and has urged them to rededicate themselves to their homes.
She has also asked them to renew their commitment to cherished family values of dedication, unity, love, loyalty, and uprightness. The First Lady stated this in Abuja today, 23/12/2013, in her Christmas message to Nigerians.
Dame Jonathan noted that stable, peaceful homes promote peaceful communities as well as a peaceful nation, with the prospects of an even brighter future for all. She observed that her call is in consonance with the spirit of Christmas which represents, renewal, peace and hope.
Her message also urged women whom she described as “perpetual peace promoters” to remind their children and wards of the importance of the virtues of tolerance and peaceful co-existence, as well as the demonstration of respect and humility to all.
She further noted that although Christmas is a time of joy, merriment and the exchange of gifts among family and friends; we must not forget to spare a thought for orphans and the less privileged in our society. The First Lady emphasized that this is a season for women to become prayer amazons by dedicating prayers to their families and the nation, as well as Nigeria’s leaders so that the Almighty can continually imbue them with the wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job so that peace and unity in our nation is assured.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6
